How I Self-Published My Book
"Almost immediately upon deciding to self-publish my first novella did I realize why people give up on their dreams. Everyone likes to snuggle up next to the crackling fire underneath their fleece blankets, drinking hot cocoa and thinking all things nice and comfortable.
Reality check: Not how real-life works. That’s just a nice thing to do in the winter.
Here’s the thing, writing a book is relatively easy compared to the after emotions the author faces. It’s not good enough, haunted my thoughts many restless nights. As well as, Someone will be offended because they don’t agree with my beliefs. No one will get my movie references. Everyone will think it sucks because I don’t say things poetically, or the one sentence that needed to be restructured, or the possible grammatical errors made due to a lack of hired proofreaders.
Madness. I was driving myself absolutely mad as a hatter throughout my editing and formatting process, allowing my self-doubt monster, Vicky – yes, I named that little she-devil – to spin a web of lies about my capabilities to be a good writer."
